Our Company Behavior
A Culture of Inclusion and Innovation
When you join the Hunter team, you're part on a heritage brand that's been around for well over a century--but if you think that means we're stody or set in our ways, think again.
We've always been about innovation here--from the father-and-son duo that invented the ceiling fan and founded our company to the artists, engineers and many other employees who continue to drive our company forward.
First, organize your thoughts, then say what you mean. Don’t beat around the bush. If you want something, ask for it. Address issues directly with those who are involved or affected. Don’t avoid an uncomfortable conversation when its necessary for team success.
Take personal responsibility for making things happen – somehow, someway. Respond to every situation by looking for how we can do it, before explaining why it cant be done if that’s the case. Be resourceful and show initiative. Embrace challenges and take bold action to get things done.
Work as a real team. Collaborate with each other, our customers and our partners to find the best solutions. Don’t argue over who is right. Discuss what is right. Collaboration generates better ideas than individuals working alone.
Practice Problem Solving to Create a Permanent Fix (blamelessly)
Apply your creativity, spirit and enthusiasm to developing solutions, rather than pointing fingers. Own your mistakes and focus on finding a solution. Identify lessons learned and us those lessons to improve ourselves and our processes so that we don’t make the same mistake twice. Learn from every experience.
Be a lifelong learner. Seek out and take advantage of every opportunity to gain more knowledge, to increase your skills, and to become an expert. Be resourceful about learning and sharing best practices.
Take responsibility, both formal and informally, to coach, guide, teach, and mentor others and your own development. The best way to influence others is through your own example. Walk the talk
Embrace Change & Growth
Regularly evaluate the way you work to find ways to improve. Accept feedback. don’t be satisfied with the status quo. “Because we’ve always done it that way” is not a reason. Our “cheese” is always moving. Find ways to get things done faster, better, and more efficiently.
Be true and honest with oneself and others, having a credibility in one’s words and behavior, and an absence of pretense. Do what you say you’re going to do, when you say you are going to do it.
Be Engaged, Have Fun & Be Positive
Have a passion for what we do and be fully engaged. Make the most of each day by approaching every task with energy, focus, purpose and enthusiasm. Don’t take things personally or be too serious. Remember to laugh every day.
Work with a Sense of Urgency
Work as quickly and productively as possible, but never sacrifice quality or safety. Don’t put off till tomorrow what can be done today. Deal with it now. Act decisively. Hustle. Get stuff done.
Drive for Results
While we appreciate effort, we recognize, reward and celebrate results. Follow-up on everything and take responsibility to ensure tasks get completed. Set high goals, use measurements to track your progress, and hold yourself accountable for achieving those results. The scoreboard represents our true performance.
Have an Opinion / Point of View
If you have something constructive to add to a process, participate. Our jobs are to drive value to this organization. Every job is "our" job.
Do What’s Best for the Customer
In all situations, do what’s best for the customer, even if its to our own detriment. There’s no greater way to build a reputation than to steadfastly do what’s right for others. Every day.
Recognizing people doing things right is more effective than pointing out when they do things wrong. Regularly extend meaningful acknowledgement and appreciation – in all directions throughout our organization. Never miss an opportunity to bring attention to someone doing the right thing.
Create clarity and avoid misunderstanding by discussing expectations up front. Establish who, what, where, when, why and how for all projects, issues and commitments. Make sure everyone is on the same page. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Asking questions is a sign of strength – it shows you have courage to admit you don’t know something and a willingness to learn.
